Daniel Warwick, Superintendent of the Springfield Public Schools, has been given the 2023 President’s Award by the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents (M.A.S.S.).
The award was given based on the improvements in dropout and graduation rates in the district. When Warwick began his tenure in 2012, the graduation rate was 56.6% compared to 84.6%, while the dropout rate has decreased from 10% to 3.9%.
Warwick’s other accomplishments in the district include implementing a 1:1 technology model, investing over $750m in building new schools and upgrading existing ones in the district, making the district the first in the Commonwealth to offer free education to children from pre-kindergarten to three and four years of age, and building and opening the Culinary and Nutrition Center in partnership with Sodexo, where meals are prepared from scratch each day for students.
Local Print shops often engage in flyer printing to spread news of such awards and accomplishments.
Dianne Kelly, president of M.A.S.S, said that Warwick has used local and state resources strategically to develop innovative practices in the district. She said that his unique style of leadership has resulted in major improvements in opportunities for the students in the district. She added that he has shown himself to be a champion of children, a supportive colleague, and a leader in education who is respected throughout the Commonwealth.
