Sound the Alarm coming to Springfield

Sound the Alarm, a campaign created by American Red Cross to help educate homeowners about fires and assist them in creating a safer environment, will have events coming to Springfield, Massachusetts later this year.

Those who sign up for the program can expect to have volunteers from the program come to their door and assist them in such tasks as installing smoke alarms, creating fire emergency plans, and checking and replacing batteries in existing smoke alarms throughout the home.

The CEO of the Massachusetts American Red Cross, Chad Priest, said about the upcoming campaign:

"Every day home fires are responsible for as many as seven deaths and 36 injuries in this country. We want that number reduced, and so far, our Home Fire Campaign is responsible for saving 258 lives across the U.S. Please join us to sound the alarm here in Springfield and help save lives."

Residents of Springfield can sign up for the Sound the Alarm campaign now and will receive free services such as fire alarm replacement and fire education on October 7 and October 14 of this year.
