Shredding event comes to Springfield
A free Community Shredding Event on the grounds of the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield is coming up this weekend
The sponsors of the event are the Mayor’s Office of Consumer Information, the Eastern States Exposition, and WWLP-22News partnering with Proshred Security and the Attorney General’s Office of Massachusetts.
Items recommended to be shredded include unwanted paper documents that consist of financial documentation or have personally identifiable information on them. Each vehicle can bring in five boxes of documents and items such as rubber bands, staples, paper clips, and manila folders do not need to be removed before being shredded. Items that should not be brought to the event include documents containing confidential information, as well as wrapping materials, packaging, and three-ring binders.
Flyer printing can be used so that those who wish to bring items to such events have greater details about acceptable and unacceptable items.
Attendees of the event are also encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to be donated to the Open Pantry Emergency Food Pantry.
This event is a community service project and is part of the Founder’s Day of Caring activities of Nexstar Media Group, which is the parent company of WWLP-22News. Nexstar celebrates its anniversary each year with such projects in each of its television markets.
The event will be held from 8:30 am until noon tomorrow, June 15.
