The new East Forest Park branch of the Springfield City Library will be opening soon.
The library is close to 17,000 square feet in size and will have an area dedicated for teenagers, a large family room, computer stations, and a community meeting room. There will also be rooms for quiet study, collections of large Books and media, and an outdoor reading garden and patio.
The cost for the new building is $9.5m and is being funded by grants and money from the city.
Grace Larochelle, manager of the branch, said this is like a third space for the community in addition to work and home, and is for relaxing. The community room can be used for organizations in town to meet at no charge. There is also a maker’s space so that children, teenagers, and adults can have a place where they can partake in crafts.
Brochure printing can be used to provide more details on the features and services of such new facilities.
Molly Fogerty, Director of the Springfield City Library, said that the library will officially open later this year. A grand opening is planned for early to mid-December. There are still some finishing touches that need to be done, and furniture is still being shipped into the space.
Mayor Domenic Sarno added that the library is expected to become the hub of the community.
