The facility decided to open its career center now in order to recruit the 3,000 staff members it currently needs. The center is approximately 7,000 square feet in area, with a lab containing 20 computers, two interview rooms, and office space. It also contains plenty of room for presentations and has informational Banners and pictures hanging up throughout the space.
The president and chief operating officer of the MGM Springfield, Michael Mathis, described the center as the go-to place for those wanting to work with MGM, adding:
“It's a one-stop shop facility for people to come learn about opportunities at the resort, to fill out applications, to meet with our different HR professionals, to do panel interviews, private interviews, drug testing, as well as to meet the regulators and fill out licensing paperwork."
For now, the center will be open from Monday to Friday during the hours 1:00 pm. to 4:00 pm. Next year, MGM plans on keeping the center open during full-time hours during the week and also establishing weekend hours. It also plans on having a three-day, mass hiring event next June to hire another 1,500 employees.
