College in Springfield to return to campus in fall

Classes will be held on campus at Western New England University in Springfield this fall.

Anthony S. Caprio, president of the university, addressed the campus community, saying that interactions of students with their classmates and the faculty and staff are important for providing the best education possible. He added that all considerations will be given to the health and safety of everyone and that all efforts are being made to maximize life and classes on campus to be the type of education which students attending the university have envisioned.

Caprio added that many groups are working together to evaluate all aspects of the university’s operations, including how to open the campus in the fall. Formal work groups meet on a daily basis to examine the residential community, health and safety standards, and the curriculum. The details of such plans to return to campus in the fall can be made known to the campus community with flyer printing.

Western New England University was founded in 1919 and spans 215 acres in Springfield with 28 major buildings and many recreational and athletic fields. It offers graduate and undergraduate degrees through its College of Pharmacy, School of Law, College of Engineering, College of Business, and College of Arts and Sciences. It has close to 4,000 students from 40 states and territories and 26 foreign countries.
