Cher to perform in Springfield next year

Legendary songstress Cher will be coming to the MassMutual Center at MGM Springfield next year.

Executive director of entertainment for MGM Springfield, Talia Spera, expressed excitement about the 72-year-old performer coming to Springfield and bringing her talent and flair to Massachusetts. Cher and MGM Resorts have had a successful partnership over the years, and Spera believes everyone is looking forward to this opportunity.

Cher is releasing a new album, titled ‘Dancing Queen’, on September 28 and most recently appeared in the movie ‘Mamma Mia 2: Here We Go Again’.

As part of its agreement with the city of Springfield, MGM is required to schedule, book, and underwrite a minimum of three shows a year at CityStage and Symphony Hall over the next five years. MGM started managing the MassMutual Center in 2017 and is also required to schedule, book, and underwrite a minimum of four events a year for the next eight years. Stevie Wonder performed most recently at the MassMutual Center on September 1 to a sold-out crowd.

Organizers of these sorts of events often use such techniques as banner printing to promote concerts and other special events.

Cher’s tour, titled ‘Here We Go Again’, will call into Springfield on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 8:00 pm at the arena in downtown Springfield. Tickets go on sale this Friday, September 14.
