Burger eatery to open in Springfield

A Wahlburgers casual dining burger restaurant and bar will be opening in Springfield.

It will be located at what was the site for Dave’s Furniture at Union and Main Streets, adjacent to Red Rose Pizzeria, and will be 4,500 square feet in size. Mark Wahlberg first made the decision to open this location in August 2018.

Banner printing is often called upon at such sites to inform the community of such projects and to keep them abreast of their progress.

The business will be owned by the Wahlbergs, who now have 32 restaurants in the United States, London, and Toronto. There are Wahlburgers restaurants in Massachusetts at Logan airport, and in Dorchester, Lynnfield, Hingham, and Boston.

Mark’s brother Paul is the head chef and said that the menu is based on the food he and his siblings ate growing up. This included fresh ground beef burgers, tater tots, very messy Sloppy Joe’s, and frappes. Mark and Paul founded the chain in 2011 in Hingham, along with their other brother, Donnie, who is an actor on “Blue Bloods.”. A reality television show called “Wahlburgers” is based on the brothers and the restaurant chain.

The planned opening date for the restaurant will be sometime in 2020. It anticipated that the opening of this restaurant will help to reinvigorate the neighborhood in downtown Springfield.
