CRRC MA is planning to construct a warehouse in Springfield at its factory on Page Boulevard for the storage of the HVAC components it builds for transit cars and large components including motor and wheel assemblies. The warehouse will be 42,500 square feet in size.
This warehouse will be the first major expansion of the factory where production began last year. There is also an office building on that site.
A spokesperson from CRRC MA, Lydia Rivera, said the company is in the process of selecting contractors and added that the company is growing and needs the space. The warehouse is expected to be completed in August. Banner printing can be used at such sites to keep those in the community informed of the progress of such projects.
CRRC MA is currently working on 152 new Orange Line subway cars for the MBTA after which it will build 252 new subway cars for the Red Line. Starting in June 2022, another 120 new cars for the Red Line will begin construction. CRRC is also working on 45 double-decker train cars for the transit system of Greater Philadelphia as well 64 new subway cars for the city of Los Angeles.
There is a total of 248 employees who work for CRRC MA which is a subsidiary of the Chinese-owned company.
