Next month will mark the start of special historic tours beginning in Crown Point. The Lake Champlain Region History bus tours will be presented by the Crown Point Historic Site and its partners, in advance celebration of the country’s 250th anniversary next year.
Organizers of special activities such as this often turn to local Print shops for flyer printing and other promotional materials.
Over a four-hour narrated journey, participants will hear stories about revolution, industry and the land of the region that helped fortify the birth of the nation. The tour will begin at the Crown Point State Historic Site, where guides will point out the ruins of impressive French and British battle forts.
The economic impact of the iron industry on shipping ports, railroads and more will be explained by interpreters on a stop in Moriah. A visit to historic Westport will provide an education on that community’s role in the revolutionary war.
Whallonsburg and its historic buildings will provide the backdrop for another stop on the tour. The town's Boquet River was vitally important to early explorers as well as troops in the Civil War, Revolutionary War, and War of 1812.
Buses will return to Crown Point where visitors will be free to further explore the historic site and museum.
The Lake Champlain Region History bus tours will be operated on Saturdays at 10 am from October 4 to October 18, 2025. Organizers are hopeful the tours can be continued in 2026 as part of semi quincentennial celebrations.
