A foraging workshop is getting ready to open its doors in Oak Park this September to help residents learn to identify edible plant species in the area.
The Eat the Neighborhood Foraging Walk and Lunch is set to bring Oak Park residents with a love of self-sufficiency together to learn more about the nearby edible plant species and ways to identify them. Dave Odd, a professional forager, will lead the walk, which is expected to last for around 2 hours.
Odd will take guests through an Oak Park neighborhood to find each of the plants on the agenda. The hike will also be a learning opportunity for community members who wish to learn more about the natural health benefits of these plants. Brochure printing can provide attendees at nature hikes like this with a high-quality printed resource to help with identification and other helpful facts.
The foraging experience will be followed by a picnic lunch made using some of the foraged ingredients that guests found during the tour. Erik Williams, owner of local restaurant Carnivore and a talented professional chef, will prepare the lunch with help from his staff.
Carnival Grocery on South Oak Park in Oak Park will serve as the meeting place for the educational walk, which starts at 11.00 AM on Sunday, September 27th. Tickets can be reserved online for $65 for the lunch and tour combo.
