Authors to host interactive workshop in Oak Park

Two authors will read from their newest co-written book and host themed activities at the Oak Park library’s main branch.

Leaf Town Forever: A Reading, Haiku & Crafts is an interactive event where guests can hear from sibling authors Kathleen and Beth Rooney. Attendees will get to create leaf-related craft projects and can learn how to create their own haikus. The authors will conduct a live reading of Leaf Town Forever, a picture book about the imagination of children and a town made from falling leaves. There is no age limit to participate in the activities. Libraries that host events like this may promote them with poster printing services.

Beth Rooney is a photographer and visual journalist who graduated from Ohio University. She has worked with many notable clients, including The New York Times, The Chicago Tribune, and Chicago Public Radio. Kathleen Rooney is a teacher at DePaul University and the founder of Rose Metal Press. Kathleen has published several Books, such as Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk, From Dust to Stardust, and Cher Ami and Major Whittlesey.

The family-friendly live reading and crafting activity will be held on Sunday, November 2 from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. The library requires all participants to register for the event in advance, and registrations will close on the day of the event. Those interested in purchasing the book can order it from the Dandelion Bookshop.
