Oak Park to taste cookie and hot cocoa walk

Downtown Oak Park will hold two seasonal activities in December where families can enjoy holiday treats while browsing local businesses.

The Winterfest & Cookie Walk is a holiday celebration that invites the community to visit businesses in Downtown Oak Park to fill up their commemorative cookie tins. The event will also have live performances from local carolers and choirs. Families can go to the Lake Theatre to see a free screening of The Polar Express. There will also be a visit from Santa during the event. Each household will only be allowed to have one themed cookie tin for the event.

The other program offered by Downtown Oak Park will be the Home for the Holidays experience. The activity will feature a hot cocoa crawl where families can receive free drinks from several local businesses. The cafes participating in this year’s event will include Crepas Culichi, Wise Cup, Kribi Coffee, and Vigo Coffee. There will be many unique flavors of hot chocolate to try, such as toasted marshmallow, gingerbread, and Mayan hot cocoa.

The Winterfest experience will be held on Saturday, December 6th from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, and the Home for the Holidays activity is on Saturday, December 20th from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. There is no cost to enter either program, and registration isn’t needed to participate.
