A coach from the Southwest Suburban Cook County American Job Center (SERCO) will give a presentation on job interviews at the Oak Park Public Library.
Preparing for a Job Interview is a program where guests can learn helpful tips and techniques for improving their first impressions with potential employers. The presentation is led by Estephany Alencastro, a career coach who has been working with SERCO since 2021. Alencastro has experience as an advising assistant at National Louis University and a counselor at Pilsen Wellness Center, Inc. She also went to school at Dominican University.
SERCO is a nonprofit organization that is based in North Riverside, Illinois. The group offers public assistance programs that help job seekers find employment. SERCO was formed in 1987 and has worked with more than 12,000 people since opening. The co-directors of the nonprofit group are Clelia Gomez and Hugo Avila. Gomez has a Master’s Degree in Community Counseling, and Avila has a certification from the National Board of Workforce Professionals.
The lecture on preparing for job interviews will be held on Tuesday, August 19th from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The presentation will take place in the Veterans Room at the main branch of the library. Adults are the intended audience for Alencastro’s lesson, and registration is mandatory for the event. Libraries and public assistance nonprofits that host similar events to this may use printing services to create advertisements for their programs.
