Oak Park to organize drawing class

The Oak Park Public Library will offer a nature-themed drawing class in June at its Main Library branch.

The Drawing from Nature Workshop is a program where people can learn how to create their own observational life drawings. The first part of the lesson will be a live demonstration and drawing exercise. The second section will bring students outdoors to practice their drawing skills. The course is intended for high school students, adults, and seniors. All levels of artists can take part in the workshop, and beginners are encouraged to sign up for the program.

The instructor of the nature drawing class is Gabriela Denton, a graphic designer for the Oak Park Public Library. Denton worked as an art teacher for the LeMoyne Art Foundation and taught subjects like bookbinding, painting, and printmaking. She was also an art intern for the Small Craft Advisory Press and Florida State University. Denton graduated from Florida State University in 2016 with a degree in studio art and international relations.

The drawing workshop will be held on Saturday, June 15th from 10:00 am to noon. There is no price to register for Denton’s art class, though seats are limited to library patrons so they must register in advance. Libraries that offer similar art instruction programs may use printing services to create Posters or Flyers that draw attention to their workshops.
