The Oak Park Runners Club will host an activity in April at the Oak Park and River Forest High School to benefit two charitable organizations.
The Good Life Race is a competitive and family-friendly experience where people can run for good causes. The event has multiple race categories, and the courses are certified by the USATF. Those who achieve the fastest times in their age or gender category will receive an award, and all participants will be given a commemorative shirt.
Bands from Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School and Oak Park and River Forest High School will provide entertainment for the race.
Collaboration for Early Childhood and Housing Forward are the two organizations benefiting from the race. Collaboration for Early Childhood is a nonprofit group that was created in 2002 to ensure children have the resources they need to thrive in school. The organization offers services like parent leadership training and caregiver workshops. Housing Forward is a group made in 1992 that helps people transition from homelessness to stable living situations. The organization assists over 2,000 people each year.
The Good Life Race will be on Sunday, April 6 from 7:15 am to 11:00 am. The cost to participate in the event’s 5K is $45 per person, and the price of the youth mile will be $15. Children interested in the Junior Dash can race for $10. Racing organizations that offer community activities like this may use poster printing to raise awareness for their events.
