What's Happening in Arlington Heights, IL…

Village of Arlington-Heights to hold its annual autumn event

It will not be long until the Arlington-Heights Park District and the Village Special Events Commission’s Annual Autumn Harvest Festival will be in full swing.

It will be a day for everyone to get outdoors, enjoy the weather, and just have fun. Families and friends will be building scarecrows, taking hayrides, and having picnics. The event will be free.

Local school bands will provide the day’s musical entertainment. One of Arlington Height’s District dance ensembles, Fusion, will be performing and there will be a magic show. Hayrides will be available at intervals throughout the day. Kids can also enjoy various crafts, activities such as face painting and a petting zoo.

The scarecrow building contest will be open to families, children, adults, neighbors, and any other creative groups. The event will supply everything needed to create the scarecrows. Everyone will want to remember to take pictures of themselves and their creations for possible future poster printing or postcard printing. Food vendors will be on site for those who forget their picnic baskets.

The event is slated for next Saturday, October 8, from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm at the North School Park at Arlington Heights Road and Eastman Street in Arlington Heights. The scarecrow contest will begin at 11:00 am and judging will be around 2:00 pm.
