Downtown extends annual outdoor dining
The Village Board has announced that it is extending its annual Arlington Alfresco beyond the traditional Labor Day closing.
The program is an opportunity for local restaurants and other eateries to extend their dining areas outdoors into the downtown rights-of-way.
Downtown between the intersections of South Highland and West Campbell and East Campbell and South Dunton, and along S Vail to W Wing Street, has been closed to accommodate the program.
Guests and parties of up to six people are encouraged to make reservations if they are planning to attend. For those patrons wishing to take part in the program but not comfortable with the seating, they can use one of the six curbside pickup locations outside the pedestrian-only areas.
Bike racks are also available right outside the entryways. The board has arranged for two-hour parking along Davis Street, in Lot E and on Vail Garage’s first floor. The permanent ADA spaces are still available, along with four temporary ones. Six ADA ramps are also positioned at intervals throughout the venue.
Businesses that take part in providing experiences such as this for their patrons often have photographers take pictures of guests enjoying the event. These pictures are often taken to local print shops to become part of their advertising brochure printing or other promotional materials.
Arlington Alfresco is taking place in Downtown Arlington Heights beginning at 11:00 am daily until the first snowfall or November 2, depending on which comes first.
