Santas on the run in Arlington Heights
Now that Thanksgiving is over its time to put down that fork and get ready for the Arlington Heights Rotary Club’s Annual Santa Sleigh 5K Run/Walk, which coming up shortly.
This new Arlington Heights tradition, created in 2008 to help support the Arlington Heights Rotary charitable initiatives, will take place rain, snow, or shine. A five-piece Santa suit will be issued to each runner. Over 2,000 Santas are expected.
The course will start west of Highland Avenue at Campbell Street. It will then go east onto Sigwall and head south on Evergreen. It will turn west on Orchard and north on Chestnut Avenue. Nex,t it will travel west on Maple and north on Walnut. A right going east on Park, another right on Mitchel, a left on East Rockwell, and north onto Highland will take the runners to the finish line.
A Reindeer Run will be for children who are 10 years of age and younger. The course will be four short blocks and children will be within sight at all times.
Spectators will want to bring banners to support their favorite Santa or Reindeer, and there will be a post-race party to enjoy.
