Chicago Professional Bull Riders Invitational expands

The Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series Chicago Invitational will be growing into a three-day event as of this month.

No fewer than 35 of the world’s top bull riders will be competing on the nation’s best bucking bulls for top prize money and national ratings.

Qualifying rides will be the standard eight seconds, and timing will start when the bull’s flank or shoulder leaves the gate. It will stop when riders touch the ground, let go of the rope, or a free arm brushes the bull.

Points are given to both rider and bull. A total of 50 points goes to the bull depending on performance, and up to 50 points are up for grabs for each human who completes the ride.

Riders will take control of one bull each. After the last round, the 15 top scoring riders will compete for the event title by riding one more bull. Last year’s winner left with $36,700 in prize money.

Top performers have promotional products such as hats, jewelry, and wall calendars on sale online. Many fans here in Arlington Heights may want to get T-shirts related to Cooper Davis, the 2016 PBR World Champion. Others may want to get something depicting Wallace Oliveira, last year’s Invitational winner.

The invitational will be at Rosemont’s Allstate Arena, 6920 Mannheim Road, Rosemont on January 13 (starting at 7:45 pm), January 14 (beginning at 6:45 pm), and January 15th (gates opening at 1:45 pm).
