Arlington Heights celebrates legendary band

A group of local musicians who love the iconic R&B group Chicago has organized itself into the Chicago Experience, and will be playing here in Arlington Heights in mid-March.

The nine-member tribute band recreates the music that made Chicago so famous from their first album in 1968, at which time the group was known as the Chicago Transit Authority, through 2014 when their remix album ‘Chicago XXXVI Now’ was released. The legendary band has sold over 120 million records including 21 top 10 singles, 5 gold singles, and 11 number one singles. As far as the popularity of their albums goes, five consecutive albums topped the charts and 25 of their 32 albums went platinum. Of the Billboard’s Magazine’s top 100 artists, Chicago was the highest charting American band, ranking 13th.

The Chicago Experience begins with the original band’s first song, Introductions, on Chicago’s first album with an actual title (self-titled) instead of a number. The band will continue will such classic hits as Hotel California, Desperado, Best of My Love, Lyin’ Eyes, Take it to the Limit, and Easy.

Those who plan to attend may want to get some promotional items such as T-shirts to wear to the event. These can be purchased online.

The event will be Saturday, March 18 at the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre, 111 W. Campbell Street, Arlington Heights. The performance will begin at 7:30 pm.
