Arlington Heights area welcomes fall with apple festival
The 28th annual Historic Downtown Long Grove Apple Fest will be welcoming the fall season at the end of September.
There will be hundreds of apple goodies for sale. Some apple products will be chocolate, candy and caramel covered apples, apple cider donuts, lattes, popcorn, apple crisps, cheesecake, pies, ice cream cookies, and tempura. Frank’s Farm Orchard will have fresh apples available for purchase.
Non-apple items will also be available. These will include candy, ice cream, and goodies offered at the town’s downtown shops.
Apple pie eating contests on Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm will take place in the Kids Area on Towner Green. Contestants in both adult and kid divisions will get two minutes to consume as much pie as they can eat and the crowd will vote for the winner. Winners at contests such as these like to take pictures of themselves to local print shops to have duplicates made. They then send the photos to relatives and friends to verify their achievements.
Two stages will offer live entertainment over the three days. The 2019 Main stage will have nine bands including Petty Kings, ARRA, Six to Midnight, and MellenCougar. A classic carnival will provide unlimited ride specials.
Apple Fest will be September 20 from noon until 11:00 pm, September 21 from 10:00 am until 11:00 pm, and September 22 from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm at 308 Old McHenry Road in Downtown Long Grove.
