Technical training in Shelton

An upcoming technical course is available to anyone interested in learning a new language.

C++ is a programming language used in many applications, including games, web browsers like Mozilla Firefox, and some Google applications such as its Google File System. It is a popular and wide-used language, so the course is open to anyone interested in learning more.

The course is four weeks long, providing four hours of instructor-led lessons, four hours per week, for a total of 16 hours. Useful resources for the course will be available on the cloud, and access to them will be provided. In addition, handouts from instructors and other training material will be available. Practical lab exercises will be provided, as will actual scripts and codes. Courses like this can be enhanced when graphic design is used to create materials.

The topics to be covered include:

• Writing a C++ program
• Understanding C++ code
• How to resolve errors and bugs
• Computer memory and data types
• Variables
• How to store data in variables
• Arithmetic operators in C++
• C++ control structures and comparison operators
• Nested Control structures
• Functions
• C++ logical operators
• Saving data
• Retrieving data
• Arrays

The course begins June 3 and ends June 29, meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays for two hours each session, from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm. The course is basic, and no prior experience with programming is necessary.
