An event coming up in Shelton will be a treat for foodies.
The Connecticut Taco Festival is a celebration of all things taco. The aim of the event is to find Connecticut’s best taco, and the organizers are asking for assistance, by which they mean they want people to come to Shelton, eat tacos, and vote for the one they like best. Both food trucks and restaurants will be participating.
There are several different types of tacos that are prominent including barbacoa and birria, which is increasing in popularity. The two are similar, but not identical, as birria is usually juicier and more soup-like. Nevertheless, birria tacos are becoming increasingly popular. There will be direct competition among taco vendors selling birria tacos.
Although the entire lineup is not yet finalized, some of the competitors are La Birriamania and Birria Mia, both of which are entering birria tacos as their names imply. Other competitors are bringing tacos made with fish, shrimp, chicken, pork, and there will also be vegan entrants.
Tacos are the main feature of the day, but beverages are also important, especially margaritas, which go well with tacos. There will be entertainment as well including a chihuahua photo contest, a taco eating contest, and wrestling.
The Taco Festival is August 26, from 12:00 pm until 6:00 pm, at the Shelton Riverwalk in Veterans Memorial Park. Banners are perfect decorations for events like this, and organizers can create them using banner printing.
