The first SummerFest CT will be on Shelton's Riverwalk this month.
The plan is to make SummerFest an annual event. Three bands with members from Shelton will perform including John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band. The Rhode Island American Rock formed in the 1970s. It became popular in the 1980s when its music was featured in the movie Eddie & The Cruisers. The in-laws of band leader John Cafferty are from Shelton.
Hey Nineteen, who also will perform, is a tribute band to Steely Dan. Member Dale Dayjoy was raised in Shelton. His family resides there.
Tito Puente Jr. and the Rico Monaco Band is the third band that will perform. Monaco is a Shelton native. The band specializes in Latin Rock and has won several awards, made seven albums, and performed both nationally and internationally on tour.
Bands like the ones performing at SummerFest CT often have a unique Logo Design.
There will also be a beer garden, multiple food trucks, and other entertainment for when there is an intermission between bands. Proceeds will go to the Lower Naugatuck Valley Boys and Girls Club. Guests should bring a nonperishable food item for the food pantry at the Spooner House.
The event will be at 100 Canal Street on August 18. Tickets at the gate are $45 or $40 before arriving. Blankets, lawn chairs, and coolers are encouraged. If it rains, SummerFest CT will be the following Sunday on August 25.
