Summer music in Shelton

Summer in many cities is filled with music, and Shelton is no exception.

The city’s Parks and Recreation Department organized its “Music Under the Stars” performances, which are continuing through August on Huntington Green.

The next band is the Alpaca Gnomes, a seven-piece folk-rock jam band based in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Currently, the lineup features percussion, sax, drums, bass, acoustic and electric guitar, and violin.

Lynn Lewis of Lynn Lewis & Friends writes and performs music and movement for children from one to ten years of age. She writes children’s songs and has produced “It’s a Beautiful Day,” a CD for children. Night Visitors, a rock band, will appear after Lynn Lewis, and change the vibe completely.

The Bernadettes are a show and dance band who play soul, funk, and R&B, and whose audiences can expect to hear hits by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, and The Spinners.

The Silver Steel Band, as the name implies, are an award-winning steel drum band who play Caribbean music.

The Alpaca Gnomes will appear on August 7, Night Visitors and Lynn Lewis double concert is set for August 14, The Bernadettes play on August 21, and the Silver Steel Band winds things up on August 28.

All concerts will begin at 7.00 pm, except on the 14th, when Lynn Lewis’s show is at 6.00 pm, followed by Night Visitors at 8.00 pm. Organizers of shows like this will often promote them by using poster printing to create advertising.
