Special dinner near Shelton

Wine-pairing dinners may be better known, but a beer company near Shelton is putting its own spin on these events.

Bad Sons Beer Company in Derby, a short distance from Shelton, is offering a beer-pairing dinner. At wine-pairing events, experts choose the wine that will go best (“pair”) with the food being served. In this case, however, organizers will be pair food with beer.

This innovative idea features a meal that starts with mole shrimp, which will be paired with Stoutober. The shrimp has a chocolate mole sauce made with Stoutober, corn, cilantro, Tuscan beans, shitake mushrooms, kale, and delicata squash.

The second course is a blood orange and asparagus salad, which will be paired with Light Rider, an American lager. The third course is braised pork belly, served with Bottle Rocket, which is an IPA. Finally, dessert is cranberry panna cotta, which will be accompanied by Veruca’s Demise, a Gose with a cranberry-orange flavor.

In addition to the meal itself, a “grazing” table will be available during the cocktail hour. Vegan and vegetarian options may be available, but it is not possible to make any entrees gluten-free. At events like these, organizers can use flyer printing to create souvenir Menus.

The Beer Dinner is January 6, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. The cocktail hour is from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm, and the dinner proper will take the full three hours, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Bad Sons is on Roosevelt Drive in Derby.
