There are plans to create new residential and commercial areas in Shelton.
Two of the projects have developers that plan to erect buildings near major streets. The officials from the Zoning and Planning Commission have given the green light to one of the plans, while the other is waiting for final approval.
According to Dominick Thomas, GNK LLC attorney, apartments are in high demand. The community has many residences, including four condominium properties. GNK LLC plans to erect residential complex with 30 units.
Developers hope to congregate the updated single bedroom apartments on a two acre near Route 8. There will be parking off the street, laundry machines in each unit, and rent for $1,500. However, there were concerns from residents of existing complexes about traffic. Thomas believes that the complex will not add much traffic because residents will not travel at the same time. The P&Z Commission is not taking comments from the public, but plans to discuss it this month.
The approved plan consists of a mixed-use property totaling five stories under two miles from GNK's proposal at 509 Howe Avenue. The developer of the project is Calandro & Guarrera LLC. They will build retail space totaling 2,600 square feet and 27 residential units. There will be seven apartments with two bedrooms, 16 apartments with one bedroom, and four studio units.
Brochure printing companies can market residential units like these once they are built.
