Echo Hose Hook and Ladder in Shelton will receive the Spirit of the Red Cross Award at the American Red Cross Community Heroes Breakfast next month.
The organization was able to get 28 residents out of a burning building, five of which they personally retrieved, and set up a recovery center for victims of the fire.
Mario Bruno, CEO of the ARC in the Connecticut and Rhode Island region, stated that the breakfast is an exciting event, and that those who have won awards have gone above and beyond to help others and save lives.
Along with Echo Hose Hook and Ladder Company, other organizations and individuals selected include Alfred Meadows of Huntington, who has won the Military Hero Award, while Brenda Moratoya has been named winner of the Water Safety Award. General Electric will pick up the Workplace Hero Award for its work in disaster relief.
To honor the company, its friends or the town of Shelton could hire a banner printing company to give them something to hang up in its company building or wherever its employees so choose.
