Last month, nearly 370 students from Shelton High School filled Finn Stadium to officially graduate from high school.
Their teachers, friends, and family looked on and supported them, while students played with a beach ball in the slightly humid weather.
Yale, Boston College, Case Western Reserve, and Rensselaer are just a few of the universities that will see the 2015 graduates in the coming semester. Class president of the senior class Elise C. Sullivan stated that Shelton High will forever have a place for her class who left their mark on the school.
Gina Ciambriello, valedictorian, claimed that the last four years were challenging but held moments that students will treasure. She added that it was the base in which they will construct the rest of their lives, and that students will have to journey outside what they are used to, but must always remember their background.
Also in attendance was Mayor Mark Lauretti, who gave a speech about the tradition of students chasing their dreams after high school. This is the last of 53 years in which one of his family members will be at Shelton High. Superintendent Freeman Burr, Salutatorian Wesley S. Korcurek, class essayist Charles A. O'Keefe, and class secretary and treasurer Austin J. Kothary also gave speeches during the ceremony.
