Shelton goes online to start November

The Shelton Derby community has multiple virtual events upcoming in the beginning of November.

The Derby Public Library is hosting a culinary demonstration called The Science of Baking. Certified dietitian Siddhi will talk about the science of what we eat and how certain ingredients affect various dishes. She will also cook for the audience.

There is a materials and ingredients list available with the registration link on Event Keeper. Once registered, participants will receive a link to the Zoom page and an access code.

Continuum is hosting Rock with Nunz n' Pepin, a virtual concert to help people with mental illnesses in the community. Roland Pepin is a guitarist and a pianist, while Sal Annunciation is a singer, musician, and songwriter. Together, they have an oldies, soul, and rock sound.

Interested parties can register for the concert and see how they can become a sponsor on the Continuum CT website. Continuum provides mental health and crisis services to state residents.

Finally, Sarah Miller will present An Introduction to Genealogy, which is a lecture on creating a family tree. She will teach participants about researching their lineage, especially online.

The lecture will concentrate on how to find and access records in the United States. Attendees should bring any documents or information they have as Miller will answer specific questions. Print shops can make Copies of records if needed. Registration is available on Event Keeper.

The cooking demo will be on November 2, Nunz n' Pepin will perform on November 6, and the genealogy lecture is on November 9. Each event will start at 6:30 pm.
