Children have a chance to show their athletic ability in Monroe, and Shelton residents are welcome to participate as well.
Kids 6-12 years old are eligible to participate in the Race4Chase Kids Triathlon. Participants will meet at Wolfe Park. The address is 454 Purdy Hill Road.
Participants will check in and will set up in the transition area. There will be a pre-race meeting on safety at 8:45am, and opening ceremonies will be on the beach.
Each age group will have a different length for triathlon events and will start at different times. Starting at 9:15am, the youngest group of children are challenged to do a 50-meter swim, bike two kilometers, and run a kilometer in Wolfe Park.
The oldest group of children will bike and run the same distance, but will bike an additional kilometer. They will start the triathlon at 10:00am. At 10:45am, children 11 and 12 years old will swim 100 meters, ride a bike for five kilometers, and run for two kilometers.
There will be awards in each age group for both genders at the beginning of the afternoon. Other activities to do after the race are in the planning stage.
The race is an approved USA Triathlon, meaning participants must be a USAT member and adhere to the organization’s rules. They will receive detailed race information before race day. Print shops help events spread information through paper Mailing.
The triathlon is on July 12. Check-in starts at 7:00am.
