Connecticut governor Dannel P. Malloy disclosed that several cities in the state are getting funding from Town Aid Road. Shelton is one of the towns on the list to receive over $500k.
This is the second part of a $60 million fund for 2016 from Town Aid Road. Guidelines say the cities may put the money toward updating or supplying public transportation, handling snow, preventative landscaping around roads, putting in traffic aids, building and keeping up highways, among other things.
James P. Redeker, the commissioner for the Department of Transportation, expressed his appreciation for the money which can provide padding for the finances of each town. They can arrange what needs to be done on the roads for spring. The state will use an additional $68.9 million to repave the roads starting April 1st which is the normal beginning of the state's construction for the year. During their meeting on January 29th, the State Board Commission agreed upon the Town Aid funds and the state's allocated funds for the roadways. Nearby Ansonia is set to receive around $317k and Monroe on the other side will have $352k.
