What's Happening in Shelton, CT…

For the 10th year, Shelton is bringing music to the summertime.

The popular Downtown Sounds Summer Concerts kicks off soon with performances by Bella’s Bartok and Drop Party. Bella’s Bartok is known for the theatricality of their musical performances and their outspoken message, which is that it is possible to find hope in a world that can be uncertain and cruel. Their music draws from Americana, pop, folk, and punk, which they blend into their own sound that gets people up and dancing.

Drop Party is a seven-piece band with a notable horn section. Their shows have themes in which they hide “Easter eggs”—little messages that fans can discover. They blend jazz, funk, and ska into something new.

In addition to the bands, there will be food from local trucks, a beer garden serving wine and craft beer, artisan vendors with handmade items, and a special Kids Hour featuring a program appropriate for the youngsters.

The first Downtown Sounds concert is set for Friday, July 26 at Veterans Memorial Park on Canal Street East. The event begins at 5:00 pm with the Kids Hour, and ends around 10:00 pm. There is no charge to attend the concert, but a $10 donation is suggested. This will allow the city to continue supporting community events. All public parking lots will have parking available along Canal Street, and at the event perimeter. Organizers of events like often work with poster printing companies to create advertising.
