The American 27’s plays material of all kinds, but much of the group's sets are from The 27 Club. The club is based on the tragic coincidence, noticed by fans of rock music, that several superstars passed away at age 27. The list of members of a club no one wants to join includes Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Brian Jones, Kurt Cobain, and Amy Winehouse. At first comprised mostly of musicians, the club now includes artists and actors who have also passed away at this age. Some of the songs the American 27’s perform include “Foxy Lady” by Jimi Hendrix and “I Kissed a Girl” by Katy Perry, although she is not in the 27 Club.
The band’s current lineup comprises Maddie Stenson handling vocals and playing guitar and flute, Rob Rossetti on drums and vocals, Don Woodin on keyboards, Tim Rufino handling bass guitar and vocals, and Chris Arcamone on vocals and lead guitar. A review says:
“Love this band! Great crowd appeal, has everyone dancing and singing along. Surprisingly diverse playlists that show the respect to their audience.”
There is a meet and greet at 7:00 pm, 90 minutes before the concert. The show is scheduled for Saturday, May 11 at 8:30 pm at Cuppy’s Café on Coram Avenue. When performances like this are planned, organizers will often work with flyer printing to create handouts to publicize the event locally.
