A gala and a Beatles performance in Shelton are in the near future for the New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO).
The Vision 2020 & Beyond gala will honor Alasdair Neale, music director, and the NHSO, which is thanking its supporters for being a part of its 125-year history. There will be live auctions, silent auctions, live music, food, and sweets.
The gala will recognize Gurdon and Kathy Wattles, who have demonstrated dedication to the NHSO. The NHSO will give awards for education, art, innovation, and history for the first time. The gala will be at the Omni New Haven Hotel and tickets start at $150.
The next week, the NHSO will perform some of the most iconic Beatles songs with Jeans n' Classics at Shelton High School. The performance will include Jean Meilleur as the lead vocalist, and many songs from The White Album and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
The principal pops conductor will be Chelsea Tipton. Lis Soderberg and Kathryn Rose will be the background vocalist. On guitar is Dave Dunlop and on bass is Mitch Taylor. Jeff Christmas is on drums and Kevin Adamson is on keyboards.
General admission varies from $35 to $49, with college students attending for $10. Kids get in free with a general admission.
The gala will be on February 17 at 7:00 pm and the concert will be on February 23 at 3:00 pm. Organizations often use promotional Pens to advertise events like these in an inexpensive way.
