Chaplin, a restaurant featuring American fare, will be coming to Bridge Street Commons II in Shelton.
Hartin Ballabani, owner of Tacomida, plans to locate this establishment in the new building of developer Angelo Melisi on Howe Avenue. Ballabani said Chaplin will be different from his current eatery in that will not be as high-end, so more affordable yet fun and casual with a different cuisine. He added that he is happy to participate in the revitalization of downtown Shelton and bring more traffic to the area. Such restaurateurs often feature various kinds of Promotional Products at their other establishments to publicize the opening a new eatery in another part of town.
The menu at Chaplin will be seasonally driven and focus on a raw bar with fresh clams and oysters, dry-aged, hand cut steaks, and classic favorites such as steak tartare, linguini and clams, and the Chaplin burger, which is served with black garlic, caramelized onions, and Taleggio cheese on a brioche bun.
There will also be wines from small vineyards in the United States as well as favorites from other countries around the world. The list of cocktails will feature drinks from the Prohibition era such as martinis, the bees’ knees, and other craft cocktails.
Chaplin will include an outdoor patio which is heated and covered and offers additional seating. Ballabani is hoping to open the restaurant by the end of the year.
