Summer brings a favorite activity to Shelton – enjoying music outdoors.
Downtown Sounds is returning for two weekends, the first with Bella’s Bartok, Drop Party, and a Kids Hour courtesy of Tom Weber Music.
Uniquely, Bella’s Bartok is part band and part theatrical troupe, and delivers a message of hope. The group’s influences include Americana, pop, and punk.
Drop Party is a seven-piece outfit rising from the post-ska environment in Connecticut, mixing ska with funk to get the party started.
The second weekend brings Funky Dawgs, and the Glen David Andrews Band, along with a Kids Hour put on by Bubble Show Plus. Known for its brass section, the group has been featured with artists like the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
The Glen David Andrews Band is fronted by New Orleans native, trombonist Glen David Andrews. He works to preserve the brass band tradition that is part of the city’s history.
The dates are July 21 and July 28, from 5:00 pm until 9:30 pm at Veterans Memorial Park.
In addition to music, local food trucks will be on hand, as will wine and beer vendors, children’s activities, and craftspeople.
There is no charge to attend the concerts, but a $10 donation is suggested to help support ongoing community events organized by Celebrate Shelton. Organizers of events like this can use poster printing to create advertising for them.
