Trumbull Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in the Shelton area is hosting three classes in December.
EMS Manager Wesley Young will guide an advanced 12 lead electrocardiogram review. Young is certified in the Critical Care Emergency Medical Transport Program and with Electrostim Medical Services, Inc.
The course is compliant with the latest Sponsor Hospital Council of Greater Bridgeport medical control guidelines, but those with Basic Life Support training are also welcome to join.
Soon after, Dr. Daniel S Gottschall will host a presentation on gynecology and obstetrics. Gottschall is the Medical Affairs Vice President of the medical center at Saint Vincent's. He will highlight how EMTs should prepare patients with related medical emergencies for their arrival at the hospital. Interested individuals must register by emailing ems@trumbull-ct.gov. Finally, The Emergency Medicine Department at St. Vincent's Medical Center will join TEMS to host a seminar on congenital heart defects. EMS staff of any experience are welcome. Registration is available by emailing terence.sheehan@hhchealth.org. The seminar is free, but attendees must wear a surgical mask and maintain social distancing.
Each course counts as two credit hours of Continuing Medical Education for paramedics. The electrocardiogram review course is on December 1, and obstetrics and gynecology follows on December 7. Congenital heart defects will be covered on December 15. All classes start at 6:00 pm and end at 8:00 pm.
Certain medical certifications include Business Cards noting that the individual has completed the requirements to be certified.
