Shelton will soon bring the popular Downtown Sounds to the city.
The bands scheduled include Funk You, whose style is described as a funky backbeat topped with a healthy amount of soul.
The All Night Boogie Band is a quintet based in Burlington that first got together in 2021. In 2023, they won the title of “Vermont Rising Stars” and were nominated as “Best Blues Artist” at the 2023 Seven Daysies Awards.
Jocelyn & the Sweet Compression are a funk/soul outfit formed by Joslyn Hampton, who learned her craft from Marty Charters, her stepfather, who has worked with artists like Buddy Guy. Jocelyn and her band are planning a national tour.
Sug Daniels is from Delaware and is now based in Philadelphia. Her music is described as vulnerable, colorful, and charismatic, blending soul, rock, and folk into a personal style.
Pangea is based at the Nest Arts Factory in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and is a visionary group that layers psychedelic music over ancient and modern rhythms.
Mars Hendrik and Vinny Vallillo are also on the schedule.
Downtown Sounds takes place July 25 from 5.00 pm until 9.30 pm, and July 26, from 11.00 am until 6.00 pm, at Veterans Memorial Park. Food trucks will be on hand. Events like this often benefit if organizers use flyer printing to create handouts to distribute in the local area, an economical way of calling attention to the program.
