Shelton's Richard E. Sebastian will speak at the Kennedy Center's award dinner this evening. Sebastian is the new CEO and President of the center as of January 2.
The 67th Annual Dinner Awards and Yearly Meeting’s theme is Opportunity, Possibility, and Impact. Sebastian will discuss the past and future of The Kennedy Center.
The new CEO has more than three decades of developmental disabilities experience. He also has a rooted and special commitment to aiding and advocating for people with cognitive, developmental, and intellectual disabilities to ensure they live their lives as independently as possible. He also helps them get involved in the community and knows how to make similar organizations prosper. He was the CEO and President of Virginia-based Didlake, an organization that helps people with disabilities in multiple states. Before that, he held those positions at New York-based Human Technologies Corporation.
The yearly dinner and meeting at the center honors people who have achieved substantial progress in helping those with disabilities. The VIP Corporate award goes to Fairfield University this year, and the Employee Impact Award and Direct Support Professional Award will also be presented.
The event takes place at the Holiday Inn in Bridgeport tonight (April 19) starting at 6:00 pm for social hour. The dinner, awards, and meeting will be at 7:00 pm. Organizations like this can hand out Business Cards in case people need to get in touch.
