Kallos Music Series presents Tell me a Story

The New Haven Lawn Club Preservation Trust will present “Tell me a Story”, a program in the Kallos Chamber Music Series, in early November.

Three artists, Siwoo Kim on violin, Graeme Steele Johnson on clarinet and Min Young Kang on piano will bring the art of storytelling to the Shelton area audience.

They will musically explore five diverse narratives. George Gershwin’s first experience in France is explored with “An American in Paris” excerpt Michele Mangani Blues. Also on the program will be Distance de fee for Violin and Piano by Toru Takemitsu. This is a tale of a fairy living in a labyrinth. A disapproving brother hosting a ball will be the topic of Francis Poulenc’s L’Invitation au chateau. A soldier with amnesia will be presented in The Soldier’s Tale Igor’s Stravinsky’s “L’Histoire du Soldat.”

The program will end with Darius Milhaud’s Suite op. 157b for Clarinet, Violin and Piano, a tale of a young man dealing with the devil.

Tickets range from $25 for students, $40 for general admission and $100 for families.

"Tell me a Story" will take place Wednesday, November 3rd at The New Haven Lawn Club 193 Whitney Avenue, New Haven. A pre-concert reception will be held at 6:45 pm with the curtain going up at 7:30 pm.
