A hockey tournament for young players is on the schedule in Shelton.
The Rinks in Shelton’s Connecticut Sports Center will be the venue for the CAN/AM Challenge Cup. There are three age groups playing: Squirt (10U), which is for ages 9 and 10; Peewee (12U), which is for ages 11 and 12; and Bantam (14U), for ages 13 and 14. Within each of these age groups there are three playing levels, A, B, and C.
Tournament organizers have explained the process. Players and their families will check into their hotel as soon as they arrive in Shelton, then they will have a chance to explore. The Tournament headquarters will be located in The Rinks’ lobby where locker room assignments and standings will be posted. There will also be photos, souvenirs, and staff from CAN/AM on hand. This will also be the place where players will meet their Team Rep to register before the first game.
The game schedule will be approximately one week prior to the start of the Tournament. Everyone is guaranteed a chance to play four games. After the round-robin, the top four teams in each division will move to the Medal round. Play begins on Friday, with the final games, for the Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be finished by Sunday afternoon.
The Tournament is scheduled for January 17, 18, and 19. Events like this are often publicized with Posters, which organizers can have made at Print shops.
