An upcoming Shelton event will give participants a chance to create a colorful object for their homes.
The Giggling Pig is hosting a Galentine’s Paint & Sip evening, where participants will have the chance to copy an artwork. They can then take their copy home. Most unusually, the painting will be done on a pillowcase measuring 20” x 20”. The pillow, however, is not provided. Participants will have the option of painting on canvas.
The painting depicts a bouquet of red roses with green leaves, perched on the handlebars of a white bicycle. Only one handlebar and a small part of the bicycle is visible, so the bouquet, which is in the center of the picture, is the focal point. Above the flowers is the motto “I Love You” in black script, on a brilliant red background.
The event is advertised as a Galantine’s Day party, which refers to a holiday created as a sort of protest to Valentine’s Day. The day allows women to celebrate their friendships with other women, rather than romantic attachments to men. The term was introduced in a 2010 episode of the sitcom “Parks and Recreation.”
The Galantine Paint and Sip is scheduled for Friday, February 2 at The Giggling Pig, located at 472 River Road in Shelton. Attendees are welcome to bring their own snacks, and the event is BYOB. However, to consume alcohol, participants must be at least 21 years of age. Hosts of events like this will often use flyer printing to create instruction sheets for attendees.
