Food truck event wheels in four-figure sum

At the Shelton Riverwalk on September 18, $5,000 was raised by the Food Trucks in the Valley.

The money will go towards the Parent Child Resource Center, which offers behavioral health and therapeutic services to the Lower Naugatuck Valley including town of Shelton.

Canal Street was filled with vehicles serving food, beverages were provided by David M. Grant Caterers, and Black Hog Brewing Co. donated some of their ale to the event. There were activities for children, such as hula-hoops and face painting, and a car show took place next to the local radio station, WPLR-FM, which participated in giveaways for attendees of the charity event.

Those in charge of the event stated that charity events involving food trucks have proven to be successful lately. Organizers originally planned a small number of food trucks and some fun things for children to do, but it became something much larger.

There were over two dozen food trucks present, including Dad's Food Truck, Ben and Jerry's, Fire Dog, and The Buzz Truck. Somewhere between 3,000 and 5,000 people showed up at some point during the fundraiser, which lasted for four hours. Several public works and private companies sponsored the event.
