Shelton company Modern Plastics has grown out of its facility.
The global distributor of plastic's headquarters on Long Hill Cross Road needs more space than the 21,000 square feet it has currently. In 2010, the company moved from Bridgeport to Shelton and continued to grow at 15% per year. However, it has had the most success in the past 18 months.
According to Modern Plastics president Bing Carbone, the business' growth since it moved has been substantial and its urgently needs more space. The owner of the property has been able to provide it.
On October 1, Modern Plastics is taking over 10,000 additional square feet by removing part of a wall connecting it to the building next door. Carbone believes the company will continue to expand in another 18 months and will require an additional 10,000 square feet. If accurate, that will double the area of the development and office spaces.
The most successful product in recent years for Modern Plastic has been plastic used for medical purposes like implants and hospital instruments. Carbone added that medical plastic was not part of the business a decade ago, and the industry has rapidly changed.
When companies grow, they often offer Corporate Gifts to those responsible for the expansion to thank them for their contribution to the company.
