The details for the 223 Canal Street apartment building project, which replaced the previous plan to renovate the old buildings, have been disclosed.
About two thirds (47 out of the 68) of the units will have two bedrooms, while the rest will have just the one. Space beside and under the 3.5-story residential edifice will be formatted for just over 100 parking spaces, which is enough space for three cars for every two units. Normally, apartment buildings in Shelton need two spaces per residential unit, but the city has allowed fewer for residential projects in the past.
According to John Guedes, the developer of the new building who attended the meeting for the Planning and Zoning Commission in late April, the exterior design will be brick. This is because the surrounding buildings used to be brick factories. Guedes will also allow the city to expand the road and Housatonic Riverwalk near the site.
Guedes has renovated several buildings in the area, including Birmingham on the River, a condominium with over 100 units. He hopes to continue development on Canal Street properties left by businesses that felt the impact of the recession.
If Guedes plans to work more with the Shelton area, establishing a business relationship with a Print company might be a smart move, since every developer needs Signs, letterhead, and Posters for presentations to city officials.Get a Free Quote for Signs Get a Free Quote for Posters Get a Free Quote for Print
