Challenging event for Shelton Girl Scouts

An event is coming up for Girl Scouts in Shelton that should be both fun and challenging.

Grit ‘N Wit is bringing their unusual event to Shelton, inviting Girl Scouts to take on both physical and mental challenges in their obstacle course. Grit ‘N Wit, which was founded in 2014, is designed to challenge participants, help them learn teamwork, perseverance, and a mindset that encourages growth, so students can successfully meet challenges in the real world. The organization hopes to address the fact that students sometimes graduate from college with high intelligence but lacking real-world skills.

The obstacle course requires students to work together and help one another to finish each puzzle or obstacle. At the end of an event, students have strengthened or formed relationships, learned about teamwork, and developed increased pride in themselves.

An event typically includes such obstacles as “Spinning Blocks,” “Monkey Bars,” and “Over, Under, Through,” with puzzles in the middle of the course that have to be solved using teamwork. Organizers of events like this can use banner printing to create markers identifying the proper route through the course.

The event is limited to Girl Scouts in Shelton only and will take place May 22 at 1.00 pm at Holy Ghost Park on Nells Rock Road. Although the event is free, parents and guardians will be asked to register and sign a waiver to allow their child to take part.
