“IT’S MAGIC! Joan Ellison Swings in High Fidelity” performance will take place in the Shelton High School, where she will bring the “Golden Age of the recording studio” to life. The show will celebrate the arrangers, songwriters, and singers of the era. Chelsea Tipton, II, the Principal Pops Conductor of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, will be on the podium.
The artists popular at that time include Rosemary Clooney, Judy Garland, Lena Horne, Ella Fitzgerald, and others. Audiences can expect to hear the hits they made famous. For instance, Rosemary Clooney (yes, she is George Clooney’s aunt), who appeared in the classic film “White Christmas” is also known for hit songs like “Come On-A My House,” and “You’ll Never Know.”
Joan Ellison will do more than sing these familiar songs, she will sing them as they were orchestrated by the era’s great arrangers, including Paul Weston, Conard Salinger, and Nelson Riddle.

and has concentrated on performing the repertoire of Judy Garland from her years in Hollywood to her performance at Carnegie Hall to her television show, using Garland’s original orchestrations.
