An event is coming up that will celebrate Shelton and the cooler weather at the same time. Organizers say everyone had so much fun last time, they are making the Downtown Sounds: Fall Edition an annual event.
Those who attend the event will find children’s activities, vendors with handmade artisan goods, a wine and beer garden sponsored by the New Belgium Brewing Company, food trucks from the area with local favorites, and live music.
The food trucks currently scheduled are Jim’s Ice Cream Truck, The Cinnabomb Mini Donut Factory, The Melting Truck, Liquid Lunch, and Szabo’s Seafood, with others to be added later.
Music will be provided by the Alpaca Gnomes, a jam band from Bridgeport whose seven members play drums, bass, electric and acoustic guitars, as well as sax and violin. The mix has resulted in an earthy but dynamic sound that has created the “Gnomies,” an enthusiastic fan group that often attends the Gnomes’ performances, wearing the band’s signature gnome hats.
Downtown Sounds will be held October 8, from 12.00 pm until 6.00 pm, at Shelton’s Veterans Memorial Park. In case of rain, the fun will move to October 9. Admission is free, though a donation of $10 to help support Celebrate Shelton’s community efforts would be appreciated.
When events like these are scheduled with many vendors expected, organizers can help attendees find specific locations by using flyer printing to create handouts including a map of sellers’ locations.
